Dysport

What is Dysport?

Dysport is a prescription injection for temporary improvement in the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults less than 65 years of age.

Where is it used?  How does it work?

Over time, the muscles above and between the eyebrows repeatedly contract and tighten, causing wrinkles.

But, with  injection into each of 5 points between and over the eyebrows, Dysport blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscles, ultimately resulting in a reduction of muscle activity and temporarily preventing contraction of the muscles that cause frown lines.

How Long do the Results Last?

Results are temporary. 3-4 months typically.

Results "kick-in" in 3-4 days from treatment.

Comparison of Dysport to Botox

3 Units Dysport = 1 Unit Botox
However, Dysport is competitively prices against Botox. So, one need not be too concerned about the number of Units.

Cost: Dysport Ranges : $3 - $5/unit,  while Botox ranges : $10 - $15 /unit

Botox has been proven for longer time (FDA approved 2002) for cosmetic injections. Some studies have shown Dysport to be more effective than Botox around eyes and crows feet.
